Welcome to Your Map of the Elemental Journey
Starting something new can feel overwhelming, especially without a clear roadmap. That’s why this map is here: to provide clarity, outline key concepts, and help you stay in the know and the program flow over the next year.
This journey goes through the year's seasons and is structured around the Five Elements and their seasonal energies. Each element spans 10 weeks, guiding you through the rhythms of nature, the wisdom of Chinese Medicine, and practical steps to align your life with these cycles.
Here’s the overview of the Elemental Journey:
Year-At-A-Glance: Seasonal timeline of the elements.
Elemental Transformations: A structured approach to each element and what it offers to you in your life.
Year-At-A-Glance for the Elemental Journey
Following the solar calendar, the year begins in February with the Start of Spring (Lìchūn). While the exact dates may vary slightly each year, here’s a general, rough timeline to guide you through the contents:
• Wood (Early Spring): Early February to mid-April.
• Fire (Late Spring into Early Summer): Mid-April to late June.
• Earth (Late Summer): Late June to the end of August.
• Metal (Autumn): Early September to early November.
• Water (Winter): Mid-November to mid-January.
***Keep in mind that because we are working with the 5 Elements and there are 4 seasons, the dates of the seasons are not identical to the classical solar calendar.
The Deeper Intention Behind This Journey
At its core, the Elemental Health and Living publication is about becoming better observers of nature so that we can become better observers of ourselves.
When we understand how energy moves in the natural world, we move more gracefully within it.
And that’s the lesson of Earth school: to align our inner rhythms with the greater rhythms of nature.
At the heart of this work is awareness.
The Elemental Transformations explored in this journey are entry points and gateways into deeper self-understanding.
Each Element offers a different lens:
The body.
The mind.
The emotions.
The cycles of nature.
The food we eat.
When we understand these individually, we can start weaving them together into a tapestry of true, holistic living.
The Five Elements aren’t just metaphors.
They’re the physiology of the universe.
The seasons and cycles of Earth.
And the energetic blueprint of our own lives within our Earth suits.
This publication is meant to be a gentle, grounded entry point for those curious about the deeper energetics of life.
We’ll explore Chinese Medicine, metaphysics, energy work, and personal growth in practical, usable ways.
I consider myself a practical philosopher.
Why?
Because philosophy, when done well, asks the most important question: Why?
It helps us find meaning instead of just getting to the “how” first.
But meaning isn’t enough if it stays abstract. It has to touch the ground.
Much of modern philosophy floats too far above daily life.
I want to bring it back to where we live, in our kitchens, relationships, breath, and bodies.
This work is for the seeker who wants meaning and movement.
Someone who wants to reflect deeply and live fully.
To listen inward and apply outward.
This is why I write: To help you tune in, wake up, and grow, one element at a time.
Elemental Transformations Overview
Preparing for the Journey
This week we set the stage—tuning into the feeling of the element and the season we’re in. You’ll begin aligning your awareness with nature’s rhythm and get a sense of the energy we’ll be working with.
Elemental Energy
We begin with the movement of the element itself—how it flows when in balance, how it expresses in excess or deficiency, and how it interacts with the other elements. This gives you a foundation for recognizing elemental patterns in your body, mind, and life.
Elemental Body
This week focuses on the physical body. You’ll explore how the element relates to organs, meridians, senses, and energetic systems. It’s an invitation to listen to your body’s messages and support them with aligned practices.
Elemental Mind
We turn inward to connect with the spirit and essence of the element within. This is where your deeper nature, character, and vitality live. It’s less about doing—more about remembering who you are.
Elemental Emotions
You’ll explore the emotional and mental patterns linked to this element—how it shapes your feelings, behaviors, beliefs, and even personality traits. The goal is to cultivate emotional resilience and mental clarity.
Elemental Cycles
Now we zoom out. You’ll explore how this element moves through the cycles of life: time of day, life stages, seasons, climates, and health rhythms. This is about understanding the bigger picture and syncing your flow with nature’s.
Elemental Food
Here, we explore nourishment on all levels. You’ll learn how to support yourself with foods, herbs, essential oils, flower essences, and more—rooted in the energetic language of the element.
A Journey That Spirals, Not Marches
This path through the Five Elements isn’t a straight line. It’s not something you master once and never look back.
It’s a spiral.
You’ll return to the same places again and again, but each time, you’ll see things differently.
Because you’ll be different.
The Element of Wood may speak to you in one way this spring and in a completely new way next year.
That’s not repetition. That’s evolution.
This is the rhythm of nature and of transformation.
Not a checklist.
Not a timeline.
A spiral.
You circle through your patterns.
Your questions.
Your healing.
And each time, you land a little deeper.
So, as you move through the year, let go of the need to do it “right.”
There’s no behind.
No perfect pace.
Only your rhythm.
Only your spiral.
Let the Elements show you how to come back to yourself again and again.
